Athboy

Athboy, Co.Meath, was the terminus of a Dublin & Meath Railway 1864 built branch line from Kilmessan Junction on their Clonsilla to Navan line, latterly operated by the Midland Great Western after 1889. Passenger and goods services on the Athboy branch ceased in 1947, however a monthly livestock train operated on the branch until 1955, after which the track was lifted in August 1958. Today, Athboy Station, along with the water tower and two road engine shed have been preserved.
